Marble Cake Recipe – Baked in Oven with Egg

Marble cake is a super delicious cake and we are making it in oven. We are making use of eggs in this recipe. The cake is known as marble cake primarily because of its shape. We slice the cake into small marbles/brick shaped pieces and hence gave it this name.

It can very well be eaten as a snack or can be iced upon to serve as a main cake in any party.

This recipe makes soft and spongy cake. I am sure your kids will love it. I can say this confidently as both my husband and son finished this one in a single day!

  • 1 Cup All Purpose Flour (Maida)
  • 3/2 Cup Powder Sugar (You can use Granulated Sugar or Bura which ever is available with you.)
  • 5 Oz Butter Unsalted
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Essence
  • 1/4 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Milk (Quantity of Milk can vary so we have taken it approximately)
  • 2 Number Eggs
  • 1 Tsp Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Water (We will check the consistency and add water accordingly.)

Making Cake paste

  1. Ingredients for Marble cake should be ready now.
  2. It’s really easy to make Marble cake in Oven or Microwave. If you are not using an Oven, you would need a Microwave with convection mode to bake this cake.
  3. The first step is to melt the butter. We can melt it using either Microwave or a stove.
  4. If you are using a stove, just heat the pan on high flame and then heat butter for 30 seconds only. Remember that we do not need to cook the butter. It only needs to be melted. So, remove it quickly from stove as soon as it melts.
  5. If you are using Microwave, then keep it in for about 30-60 seconds.
  6. We have melted Butter with us, now add Sugar and mix it well using a hand blender.
  7. Add Eggs and mix well again.
  8. Add Vanilla Essence and half of the All-purpose-flour. Mix well.
  9. Add Baking Powder and rest of the All Purpose Flour. Mix well.
  10. Now let us check the consistency of batter. It looks thick. We should add 1 Tbsp Milk and mix well again.
  11. You can always add the Milk even it is not thick. It is only going to enhance the taste of cake.
  12. Cake batter is ready, now we will prepare the baking dish.

Preparing Baking Pan

  1. We are using a Loaf pan rectangle shaped with good depth to bake this cake.
  2. You can use any other shape tray/pan but the shape of the cake will be different in that case.
  3. Instead of using baking sheet, we are using Butter to grease the dish. Grease all the internal walls and base of the pan.
  4. You need to grease this pan all over, so that cake does NOT stick to the pan after baking.
  5. We need 2 Tbsp water for marbling Add chocolate waves. Marbling with Cocoa will help get chocolate rays in the cake.
  6. Mix 1 tsp of cocoa powder in 2 tbsp of Water. Mix well with a spoon.
  7. Add half of the total batter in the baking dish.
  8. Now add the cocoa powder mixture and spread it evenly all over using a spoon.
  9. Switch on the oven for preheat on 350 F (180 C) till we get the batter ready for baking or 3 minutes.
  10. Add rest of the batter, spread the cocoa mixture on top as well. Use a spoon again to make chocolate mixture waves in the batter. Now it is ready to go in the oven.

Baking Cake

  1. Note that cake’s volume will increase once it is baked. Hence, make sure that the baking pan has enough vacant space to accommodate the fluffed cake.
  2. After 3 minutes of preheating, add the cake tin in Oven. Do not forget to wear your oven safe glove.
  3. Bake it for 30 minutes on 350 F (180 C).
  4. After 30 minutes, poke a knife in cake and check if it has baked completely. If it comes out clean, it is baked. If it does not, wait for another 5 minutes and let it bake.
  5. Switch off the Oven and take out the cake from Oven. Let it cool down to room temperature.
  6. When the has cooled down, place a tray on top of baking pan and invert it upside down to bring out the cake from pan.
  7. Slice the cake with soft hands in small pieces.
  8. You can garnish the cake with nuts and chocolate sauce before serving. Enjoy the Marble cake and do share your suggestions with us.If you do not like eating eggs, you can make an Eggless cake in Oven with same level of softness.

If you do not like eating eggs, you can make an Eggless cake in Oven with same level of softness.

  1. This cake is normally served in dry form itself. Slice it into bricks shape and serve as a breakfast side item.
  2. You should refrigerate if you plan to pre-serve it for more than 4 days. It remains fresh up-to 4 days if it winter season. In summers, you should refrigerate it from day 1.
  3. Some people also like to garnish it with Chocolate sauce to make it more calorie dense!
