Molten Lava Cake In Cooker Recipe With Egg
Bake Molten lava cake in pressure cooker. It has 620 calories with liquid chocolate inside. Bake time is 7 minutes on high flame with Microwave safe bowl.
- 1/2 Cup Chocolate Chips (Semi-Sweet)
- 1/4 Cup Powder Sugar (You can even use normal Sugar. Powdered one is better)
- 2 Tbsp All Purpose Flour (Maida)
- 2 Oz Butter Unsalted (Salted or Unsalted)
- 1 Number Eggs
Making Lave Cake paste Preparation time: 4 minutes
- Ingredients for lava cake.

- Lets start mixing the ingredients one by one.

- Add butter in a bowl along with choco chips. Melt it on full power for 30 seconds in a Microwave.
- If you do not have Microwave, then you can use the double boiler style of melting chocolate and butter.
Double boiler technique: To make a double boiler, take a tea pan and fill it 50% with water. Heat water on high flame for 2 minutes.
Once water is hot, add another pan on top of this tea pan. Add Chocolate in this top Pan and let it melt with the steam of water. Once it melts, we are ready to move ahead. -
Microwave method is faster than double boiler technique.
- After 30 seconds, Butter and Chocolate are ready.
- Add Egg in butter and chocolate mixture and mix well with the help of hand mixer.
- Now add Sugar and All-Purpose-Flour and mix well again with hand mixer.

- Mix well and make sure that there are no lumps left in the mixture.
- Mixture is ready. It would take about total of 8 minutes to each this point.

Preparing baking pan Preparation time: 2 minutes
- Grease the mould or a microwave/oven safe bowl on all sides and corners. This will help in making a non-sticky layer for cake.

-
Cake will come out easily after baking with the help of this butter layer.
- You can use any Aluminium or Microwave or Oven safe utensil. Try to avoid glass based moulds.
- Now, add the cake mixture in the mould. Fill only 50% of the mould with cake mixture to avoid overflowing while baking.

- Take a cooker and carefully place a Sieve or an Idli stand first inside the cooker.
You can also use an Idli stand or a plate that normally is shipped with a cooker the one with holes. -
This extra utensil helps to avoid the direct contact of the cake mould with the cooker base and high heat.
Baking lava cake in Cooker Preparation time: 14 Minutes
- Keep the Sieve or idli stand depends on what you are using on the base of cooker and switch on the stove on high flame. We are using a sieve.

- Now, keep the cake mould on top of Sieve and close the cooker lid.

- Make sure that you have removed the cooker whistle.
- After baking it for 7 minutes on high flame, switch off the stove and keep it aside for 5 minutes. Do NOT open the cooker lid yet.
- After 5 minutes, lets open the cooker.
- At this time, the molten lava cake is ready.
- Take it out from the cooker and let it cool down for 2 minutes. It might be too hot for touching with bare hands.
- To take out the cake from mould, place a plate on top of mould and simply turn it upside down.

- Remove the mould and the delicious molten lava cake is ready to eat. This picture (see below) shows the Molten lava cake after we used a spoon to break it open.
- It is pretty easy to make it in cooker. Surprise your guests and friends with this cake and enjoy.

- Lava cake tastes best when it is served hot and fresh straight after baking.
- Cake can be refrigerated but needs to be re-heated before serving. After getting cold, the chocolate would solidify and hence would need 30 seconds of heating in Microwave. You can also use a cooker to re-heat. Use the same process as baking for melting the chocolate. The only thing to keep in mind is the short time period. You should only do it for less than a minute.
You can also try making molten lava cake in Oven instead of cooker.
This is really awesome and very tasty. I hope you will also make it at home and share your comments. Thank you.

Can I use stainless steel bowl covered with aluminium foil as mould? If yes, am I to grease aluminium foil with butter?
Anil Gupta
Hi Nisha,
We would not recommend using a stainless steel bowl as it would get too hot and may not bake the cake well.
It is always better to use an Oven safe bowl for baking.
sakshi bist
I tried making it but it became a soft chocolate cake . I used salt and and aluminum plate and used smaller stainless steels bowls(katori). Can you tell me what went wrong.
Anil Gupta
Hi Sakshi,
Somehow, this comment was missed by us earlier. I know, I am responding to it late, and if you are still there, here is what we fell:
1. Stainless steel bowls are not good for baking as per our experiments.
2. You should use Oven safe bowls.
3. We do not recommend using salt as the base either. We have not tried one and hence can’t really say what could have gone wrong there.
JUJAL
What about tupperware bowls instead of baking pan?
Whether the base must have holes? Because the sieve which you used is stainless steel. so can I use steel plate as a base?
Anil Gupta
Hi Jujal,
If and ONLY if the tupperware bowl you want to use, is marked as ‘MICROWAVE AND OVEN SAFE’ should be used for baking in cooker.
If not, there are HIGH chances that it will melt during the process.
Also, if it is made with plastic, we would recommend to NOT use it as plastic tends to release chemicals when exposed to high heat and that’s not safe for health.
On the base questions, it is good if it has holes, as this helps in pushing heat upwards for easy baking. Even if the holes are not there in the utensil you are using, it is okay. It won’t make any difference to the timing in the recipe. Yes, you can use stainless steel plate as the base.
jujal
thank you
Jujal
Choco lava in cooker! Awesome recipe.
Instead of sieve or idli stand as a base, can I use salt? If yes, whether the timing will remain the same? I don’t have baking pan or aluminium utensil, can I use stainless steel bowl? Whether gasket and whistle of the cooker has to be removed?
Anil Gupta
Hi,
1. We do not recommend using salt as the base.
2. Stainless steel utensil is not good for baking. It would get too hot and cake would be spoiled.
3. Yes, cooker whistle has to be removed. It is mentioned in above recipe clearly.
Let us know if you need more information.
jujal
Thanks..

Maahi

Use 250 gms of chocolate in this recipe.
Hope you try and enjoy..
Thanks for watching.
Anil Gupta
Yes, You can use Chocolate for this recipe. Just break it into as small pieces as you can.
h
does it work cuz i m scared
Anil Gupta
Don’t be scared. You can watch the video to see what we did. Don’t worry, the cooker won’t explode. The simple reason is that we do not use the cooker weight (whistle) and hence it never holds up the steam inside.
If steam is not locked inside cooker, it will never explode.
Does that answer your dilemma?

Maahi
Hi,
I can completely understand your concern about cooker but trust me and my recipe.
Nothing will go wrong if you follow all the instructions given in the video by me.
I always make cake in cooker WITHOUT any water. So please try and reply back with your feedback about my recipe.
No need to add the baking powder in this recipe.. and please do not add any water in the cooker while making this recipe. There will be no bad smell in the cake and your cooker will be perfectly fine even after making this cake in cooker.
