Nashpati ki sabzi sounds a bit weird  as Pear or Nashpati as we call it in Hindi is a fruit. But do you know that it can play the role of a main course vegetable too.

There are many fruits which can be eaten like a vegetable. One of them is raw Banana. I am sure you would have heard about raw Banana vegetable but I guess Nashpati ki sabzi would be a new one.

I can describe the final taste of this vegetable as sweet, sour and spicy. Sweet and sour are due to the inherent attributes of Pear and Spice is what we are going to add

Nashpati Ki Sabzi Recipe In Words

Ingredients:

Ingredients  for Nashpati ki Sabzi

  1. 5 Pieces of Pear (Nashpati)
  2. 1/2 Tsp Salt
  3. 1/4 Tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  4. 4 Dry Red Chilies
  5. 1/2 Tsp Grated Garlic
  6. 1/2 Tsp Grated Ginger
  7. 1/4 Tsp Black Pepper
  8. 3 Tsp Mustard Oil
  9. 1/4 Tsp Sugar
  10. 1 Tsp Coriander Seeds
  11. 1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder

Method:

first chop the Pear To Start the process of making Nashpati ki sabzi, we will first chop the Pear in thin long strips (as shown). Using a sharp knife is recommended.
Marinate the chopped Pear with Salt, Turmeric Powder  and Black Pepper Marinate the chopped Pear with 1/4 Tsp of Salt, 1/4 Tsp of Turmeric Powder and Black Pepper. Mix it well so that spices gel with the Pear pieces quite well. Now keep aside for 15 minutes.
Add the dry Red Chilies, Cumin Seeds and Coriander  Seeds To start with the cooking process, heat oil in a pan on medium flame. Once you see the smoke coming out of oil, it is heated enough to start.Add the dry Red Chilies, Cumin Seeds and Coriander Seeds. Fry till they get light golden in color.
Now add the chopped Ginger & Garlic. Mix well Now add the chopped Ginger & Garlic. Mix well. Let them achieve light golden color.
add Salt and  Turmeric Powder. Add 1/4 Tsp of Salt and 1/4 Tsp of Turmeric Powder. Mix well.
right time  to add chopped Pear. Keep the stove on low flame. Add marinated Pear pieces and mix well using a spatula.
cook for 15 minutes Mixture is ready. We now need to cook it on low flame with steam. Hence, cover the pan with the lid and let it cook for about 15 minutes.
stir it  in between to avoid burning Keep the stove on low flame and stir the pieces occassionaly to avoid burns.
our Nashpati  Sabzi is ready After 15 minutes, switch off the stove. Mix it well and our Nashpati Sabzi is ready to serve with Chapati/Naan/Paratha.Enjoy!!!
