Vermicelli is commonly known as Jave (Jawe) in hindi. It is a quick 12 minute breakfast recipe to fill-in your fast morning schedule.

We need roasted Jave if you want to save time. Both versions i.e. non-roasted and roasted are available in market and we would recommend you to buy the roasted ones.

Many families, especially, the old generation make these raw Jawe with their hand, at home itself. I have seen my mother making them and drying in open area under bright Sun. If you want, you can also try it, but it would take lot of time.

  Instructions

Chop Vegetables Prep time: 2 Minutes

  1. Chop all vegetables into fine small pieces except Peas.
  2. Make sure you chopped and slice the Potatoes very thin. It will be easy and quick to cook them with other vegetables.
The idea behind small pieces is to help Potato and veggies soften faster.

Cooking Vegetables Cook time: 5 Minutes

  1. Heat Oil in a pan on high flame.
  2. Add Cumin seeds and wait until they gets light golden brown in color.
  3. Once done, add Tomatoes, Green Chili and turn the stove to medium flame.

Please note that Water measure should always be 1.5 times the quantity of Jave.

 Storage and Serving Suggestions

  1. Jave should be served hot. Although, you can refrigerate them and serve them later after re-heating using Microwave, we do not recommend freezing. This is simply because, they are made of Maida and would lose their softness and texture once cooled down.
  2. Some people like to serve them with Coriander chutney in morning breakfast.
