Cluster Beans/ Gawar Ki Fali Sabzi – A Green Vegetable [Pics]

Cluster Beans/ Gawar Ki Fali
Cluster beans (Gawar Ki Fali) is the lesser known sister of French Bean. It is a pale green colored bean and has quite good vitamin content. The taste of the sabzi is a bitter and making it after boiling reduces the bitterness.

Ingredients for Gawar Ki Fali

Ingredients:

  1. 400 gms Cluster Beans/Gawar Ki Fali
  2. 1 Cup (Our 1 Cup = 240 ML) Water
  3. 1/4 Tsp Carom seed/ Ajwain
  4. 1/2 Tsp Red Chili Powder
  5. 1 Tsp Coriander Powder
  6. 2 Pinch Asafoetida
  7. 1/4 Tsp Garam Masala
  8. 1/4 Tbsp Mustard Oil
  9. 1/4 Tsp Mango Powder/ Amchoor

Method:

Add Cluster Beans and Water in the pressure cooker. We need to start with boiling Cluster beans. Add Cluster Beans and Water in a pressure Cooker.
Cover the lid of the cooker Cover the lid of the cooker and keep it on high flame. After 1 whistle, switch off the stove. Do not open the lid till it has pressure/steam in it. Once all the steam has vanished, open the lid and your cluster Beans should be boiled.
Sieve the boiled beans. Sieve the boiled beans to remove water.
take out one layer of the corner Scratch out the corners of cluster beans using your hands from both sides as shown in image. It is a fine thread attached to the circumference of the bean.
Heat oil in a pan Heat Oil in a pan, add Asafoetida and Carom seed (Ajwain). Keep the stove on medium flame. Cook till they become light brown in color. Now add Coriander Powder, Garam Masala, Mango Powder, Red Chili Powder. Mix well.
After mixing the spices well in oil, add boiled cluster beans After mixing the spices well in oil, add boiled Cluster Beans and Salt. Mix well again.
Cover the pan with the lid and cook for 2 mintues. Keep the stove on low flame. Cover the pan with the lid and cook for 2 minutes. This will help cluster beans to soften and marinate with spices. Then, switch off the stove.
Gawar Ki Fali is ready to eat Gawar Ki Fali is ready to serve. You can enjoy it with Chapati.
