Making Desi Ghee at home has been an ancient tradition in India and a choice abroad. If you like to use the pure and home made taste in your sweets and food preparations, here is a simple and easy recipe to make the Ghee. There is an added benefit of saving some money too as the one available in market would off course be a bit expensive than the one you make yourself especially is you are staying outside India.

  • Start the process by heating a big pan on high flame. Add Butter and let it melt.
  • Once you add the Butter, turn the stove on medium flame and let it cook for 10 minutes. The basic idea here is to melt the butter.
  • After 10 min., we need to turn the stove on LOW flame and let it cook for 30 min.. Keep stirring to avoid any burns.
  • It is a festival season in India and Desi Ghee is one of the most important ingredient in all our delicacies. This is the reason we are learning how to make Desi Ghee easily at home.
  • After 30 min., Switch Off the Stove. Desi Ghee is ready. Ghee is ready when you can see the dark golden color particles in the base of liquid.
  • Let it cool down to room temperature and then sieve out the dark golden brown particles. The remaining liquid will be your Desi Ghee.

  •  Storage and Serving Suggestions

    Use Desi Ghee to make delicious sweets, pour it on top of hot Lentil or eat it with Porridge, Khichdi or with anything you like.
    Did you know that you can make desi ghee from milk cream also.
