Namkeen Jawe recipe with roasted Vermicelli for breakfast. Contains 200 calories in 1 Cup with 12 minutes of cooking time. Add veggies to make it healthy.

  • 3 Cup Vermicelli (Roasted Jave (Bambino – a brand in India))
  • 3/4 Cup Tomato (Chopped)
  • 1 Number Green Chili (Chopped (3 Inch length))
  • 1/2 Cup Peas (Matar)
  • 1/2 Cup Potato (Chopped in small pieces)
  • 3 Tbsp Oil
  • 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Mango Powder (Amchoor)
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 9/2 Cup Water

Chop Vegetables Prep time: 2 Minutes

  1. Chop all vegetables into fine small pieces except Peas.
  2. Make sure you chopped and slice the Potatoes very thin. It will be easy and quick to cook them with other vegetables.

The idea behind small pieces is to help Potato and veggies soften faster.

Cooking Vegetables Cook time: 5 Minutes

  1. Heat Oil in a pan on high flame.
  2. Add Cumin seeds and wait until they gets light golden brown in color.
  3. Once done, add Tomatoes, Green Chili and turn the stove to medium flame.
  4. Add chopped Potatoes and Peas.It is possible that the veggies do not soften within 5 minutes. The main culprit could be the potato pieces. Don’t worry, if this is the case, you can keep cooking them on low flame as long they take to soften.

Remember, this should take only a minute or two extra.

  5. Add Red Chili Powder, Mango Powder, Coriander Powder and Turmeric Powder. Mix well.
  6. Add 1/2 cup of Water. Cover the pan with the lid and let it cook on low flame for 5 minutes.

Cooking Jave Cook time: 5 Minutes

  1. After 5 minute, add 4 cups of Water and Jave. Turn the stove to high flame and mix well.

Please note that Water measure should always be 1.5 times the quantity of Jave.

  2. Add Salt and mix well once again.
  3. Bring it to boil on high flame. Once you see the boil turn the stove to low flame.
  4. Cover the lid of the pan and cook until all water gets evaporated. This should take about 4 minutes.
  5. Once done, switch off the stove and mix well.
  6. Serve hot Jave.
  1. Jave should be served hot. Although, you can refrigerate them and serve them later after re-heating using Microwave, we do not recommend freezing. This is simply because, they are made of Maida and would lose their softness and texture once cooled down.
  2. Some people like to serve them with Coriander chutney in morning breakfast.
