Cabbage Kofta curry is another version of traditional koftas that we normally make with Bottle Gourd. The only difference here is that the koftas are made with cabbage.

But this does not mean that the taste and flavor of kofta curry takes a beating. Instead, it tastes better and more delicious that Ghiya (Bottle gourd) koftas.

Try this dish and the you will love the melting koftas in your mouth.

Cabbage Kofta Curry Recipe In Words

Prep time: 15 Minutes.
Cook time: 15 Minutes
Total time: 30 Minutes.
Yield: 1 Big Bowl (good for 4 people)


For making Kofta, we need:

  1. 1-1/2 Cup (Our 1 Cup = 240 ML) Cabbage
  2. 2 Tbsp Gram Flour(Besan)
  3. 1 Chopped Green Chili
  4. 2 tsp Coriander leaves
  5. For Cooking oil
  6. 1/4 tsp Salt
  7. 1/4 tsp Red Chili Powder
  8. 1/4 tsp Mango Powder
  9. 1/4 tsp Garam masala
  10. 1/2 tsp Coriander powder

For making Kofta Curry, we need:

  1. 2 Tbsp Curd
  2. 3 Onions
  3. 2 Tomatoes
  4. 2 Tbsp Oil
  5. 3 Cup (Our 1 Cup = 240 ML) Water
  6. 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  7. 1/2 tsp Red Chili Powder
  8. 1/4 tsp Turmeric
  9. 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  10. 1/4 tsp Garam masala
  11. 1/2 tspSalt


  1. First of all, finely grate Cabbage.
  2. Add Gram flour and coriander leaves to grated cabbage.
  3. Add Mango Powder, Coriander Powder, Red Chili Powder, Salt, Garam Masala and Green Chili. Mix well.
  4. Note: We do not need any water to make this cabbage mix. Cabbage have enough moisture to make this mixture.
  5. Kofta mixture is ready. Make small balls by rolling small portion using both hands.
  6. Take a frying pan, heat oil and add koftas for deep frying on low flame.
  7. Do not touch koftas with spatula until they are golden brown from one side else they will break.
  8. Flip koftas for frying from other side.
  9. Koftas are ready when they turn brown. Take them out and keep aside.
  10. For Gravy/Curry: Grind Onion and tomatoes separately in a grinder to make a paste.
  11. Take a pan, heat it and add oil on high flame.
  12. Once oil is hot, add cumin seeds. Add onion and cook until it turns golden brown in color.
  13. Once onion turns golden brown, add tomato paste. Mix well.
  14. Add Coriander Powder, Red Chili Powder, Turmeric, Cumin seeds, Salt and Garam masala. Mix well.
  15. Cook mixture for 2 min. and then add curd. Mix well and cook for another 2 min..
  16. Cook it on full flame and keep stirring so that mixture does not stick to the bottom of the pan. Add 3 cups of water and bring it a boil.
  17. Once boiling, Kofta curry is ready. Add koftas and cover the pan with a lid. Cook on low flame for 5 min.
  18. After 5 min., Cabbage kofta Curry would be ready to serve. Enjoy!!
