If you are overweight, you’ve most likely tried countless weight loss programs, weight loss diets and a healthy dose of pills to get rid of that ill fat. Anyone who has gone through these experiences knows very well that the thing which actually works is your own self-control and focus.

When it comes to weight loss you may secretly be your own worst enemy. It's well known fact that accomplishing any dream (your goal) requires a mind that is clearly focused on the desired end. We all dream but only few reach their goals.
What matters is the what you mind thinks and what you do. After all, the choice is yours: let your mind sabotage your efforts or let it help inspire better eating habits and encourage healthy weight-loss outcomes.
If you’ve tried losing weight or a weight loss program before, and have found it to be an uphill battle in which you lose a few kilograms only to gain back several more, then it’s time to break the psychological cycle that may be holding you back from your goal.
How can i control my mind and body to achieve my goal?
- Stop Heavy Diet restrictions Diets and weight loss programs put severe restrictions on what you can eat. While you may hold out for sometime, sooner or later you’ll decide that you can’t take it anymore, and you dig into the refrigerator. The solution is to allow yourself small indulgences that are satisfying and will help you avoid harmful binging.
- Plan your food ahead of an occasion The best way to avoid slipping on food is through pre-planning. So, if you’re attending a family gathering, decide ahead of time what you would eat and what not. Eat something healthy like salads before you go out and then allow yourself a few special treats at the party. If you know that you can't leave your favorite dessert, having a small slice would not hurt. But do keep a control on your mind and tongue.
- Set Realistic Weight Loss Goals Have to attend a family marriage in 10 days and want to loose 5 kilograms for it is definitely not a good idea. To avoid the frustration of failing, don’t overstress yourself with unrealistic weight loss goals. Remember stress can actually lead to overeating and hence increased weight. You gained weight slowly over time and it will take some time to gradually lose that weight. Winning the race is more important than running fast.
- Avoid Emotional Eating Instead of opening the refrigerator when you’re upset, how about phoning a friend, or take a walk. Discover something that makes you feel calmer or happier – something other than food or alcohol. Do yoga, dance around your living room, meditate or go out bowling with a friend.
- Remind yourself of your goal everyday It helps to stop and remember why you’re dieting in the first place. See yourself in the mirror and think of the day when you will actually be looking lighter. Your mind will automatically feel better. Keeping the goal in mind is critical to your weight loss success. You can also paste a picture of your role model to keep yourself reminded of your final goal.
The fact is you can do it. It’s all in your mind – the power to lose the weight rests with you. Believe you can succeed and you will succeed. If you want to put an end to the psychological cycle of weight gain, start by turning all of your negative self talk into positive affirmations. That’s the best way to break the cycle.
Instead of saying: “Look at that fat belly. It just won’t go away.” Think positive: “Yes, my belly is fat now, but it won’t always be. I plan to be fit, not fat. I’m heading to the gym after work today.”
Keep your goal in mind at all times and yes, If you can dream it, You can make it happen!!
